Sign up: DigiShape day efficient collection, standardization and harmonization of data in the water sector

On 18 September, DigiShape, in collaboration with the Ministry of VRO, CROW and SIKB, is organising a session on the efficient collection, standardisation and harmonisation of data within the water sector. The meeting will take place at the Port of Rotterdam Authority from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm (including lunch).

Why this DigiShape day?

Standardizing and harmonizing (meta)data makes it easier to combine, enrich and thus apply data. In line with this, good agreements with regard to the collection of data ensure that data does not have to be generated anew for every process, but that datasets can be used more often for various purposes. However, making agreements about this is not self-evident. The purpose of this day is to talk to each other about the issues surrounding the collection, uniformity and harmonization of data and the way in which this can be tackled.

Collaboration and partners

We are organising this session together with the DigiShape partners the Port of Rotterdam Authority, RWS, Deltares, PeriPlus, Van Oord and the Infomatiehuis Marine (IHM), so that we can approach the subject from the public side, the private side and the knowledge side.

What can you expect on the DigiShape day?

This day offers an opportunity to get to know the program better, discuss current initiatives and collect ideas. The program includes:

  • Short introductions by the problem owners (mini-series VRO, Port of Rotterdam Authority, RWS)
  • The added value of agreements (SIKB and CROW)
  • The role of the knowledge carriers (IHM and Deltares)
  • Issues and solutions in practice (PeriPlus, Van Oord, Haskoning)

In addition to these introductions, we will work in groups to further clarify the issues and suggest possible solutions

The possible sequel

One possibility is to carry out an exploration in which the issues and solutions with regard to harmonization and uniformity of data are described in more detail and in which it is also examined to what extent partners and funding can be organized to tackle this programmatically.
