DigiShape day Efficient collection, standardization and harmonization of data in the water sector
On Friday 7 November, DigiShape, in collaboration with the Ministry of VRO, CROW and SIKB, is organising a session on the efficient collection, uniformity and harmonisation of data within the water sector. The meeting will take place at the Port of Rotterdam Authority from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm (including lunch).

Why this DigiShape day?
In the water sector, more and more data is being collected on water quality, water quantity and water safety, among other things. In addition, data often has to be collected again per phase (initiative phase, design phase, realization phase, management phase). Of course, this can be done more efficiently, by collecting everything as much as possible at once. However, making agreements about this is not yet a matter of course.
Standardizing and harmonizing (meta)data makes it easier to combine, enrich and therefore better apply. In line with this, good agreements on data collection ensure that data does not have to be generated anew for every process, but that datasets can be used more often for various purposes. The purpose of this day is to talk to each other about the issues surrounding the collection, uniformity and harmonization of data and the way in which this can be tackled.
Collaboration and partners
We are organising this session together with the DigiShape partners the Port of Rotterdam Authority, RWS, Deltares, PeriPlus, Van Oord and the Infomatiehuis Marine (IHM), so that we can approach the subject from the public side, the private side and the knowledge side.

What can you expect on the DigiShape day?
This day offers an opportunity to discuss current initiatives and collect ideas. In addition to inspiring presentations, we will work in groups to further clarify the issues and suggest possible solutions.
The sequel
We hope to gather sufficient input in this meeting to be able to carry out an exploration, in which the bottlenecks and possible solutions around harmonization and uniformity of data are clearly mapped. In addition, we want to see to what extent cooperation with partners and funding can be arranged to tackle this issue programmatically.
