DigiShape Day Open Source Platforms (D-OSP)
The idea behind D-OSP is that partners do not continue to develop individually, but work together on codes, algorithms and guidelines that are widely applicable. In a commercial environment, sharing your own code is often not self-evident. Within this platform, it is therefore about the parts that may be public, while proprietary information remains protected. This will allow partners to build on each other’s products and accelerate the digitalisation of the water sector.
Program
09:00: walk-in
09:10 hrs: parallel workshops
- Workshop 1: Data-driven Reconstruction of Shipping Accidents (reserve list). In this technical workshop (by Fedor Baart of RWS), you will learn the methods and tools for creating a data-driven reconstruction of a shipping accident. The focus is on the practical application of software, data and models to form a complete and dynamic picture of an incident. This workshop is designed for data scientists and researchers who want to acquire the skills to analyse and visualise a shipping incident.
- Workshop 2: Mangrove Opportunity Wheel. This workshop (by Mario Fuentes Monjaraz of Deltares, speaking in English, and Jan Boersma of Deltares) focuses on exploring (restoration) opportunities within the mangrove ecosystem, with a specific focus on fish pond areas in Southeast Asia. Using the Opportunity Wheel, you and other participants will map areas where mangrove restoration is promising and examine the effect this has on flood risk. We will show you how the Opportunity Wheel is structured and how you can use this data and collaboration within the D-OSP ecosystem. We will consider the technical aspects as well as the application. This makes the workshop accessible to a wide audience.
11:45.: Plenary session on Cloud infra assessment results
Presentation of the results of a recent assessment. We share our findings on Hybrid-multicloud solutions, including initiatives like Haven and partner best practices. An explored architecture for an Open Source Platform with multiple cloud vendors and alternative storage locations.
By Floris Langeraert of Deltares
12:15: Dragon’s Den Lunch
Three seed money project proposals will be pitched and refined on the spot during lunch. The DigiShape core team will then decide on the allocation of funds.
13:30: Presentation TKI office
The TKI office takes you through the new working method, the underlying vision and the main differences with previous approaches. A valuable session for anyone who wants to know what broader funding options there are to take ideas further.
By Ankie Bruens and Stephan van der Biezen.
14:00: Interactive sub-sessions around the topics discussed on this day
Participants actively work on the themes discussed earlier in the day. In smaller groups, there is room for deepening, sharing experiences and exploring concrete next steps. We bring together need and supply/possibilities, so that we can work together towards a project or initiative that matches the practice and energy of the participants. The set-up stimulates cooperation, ownership and connecting ideas to action.
15:30: Drinks and awarding seed money by core team DigiShape
16:00: End
