Insights from policy, knowledge and practice to accelerate the application of digital solutions
The North Sea is facing an accumulation of tasks: energy, ecology, shipping and use of space. The ambitions for the North Sea towards 2040 are therefore large and complex. Digitalization, combined with a growing amount of data and the need for smart models and applications, plays a key role in making these plans feasible. At the same time, the amount of data and the need for smart models and applications are growing.
During the DigiShape day From data to realisation: digitisation for the North Sea 2040, we will bring together policy, knowledge and practice and show what you can do with this in your own work tomorrow.
Strategic, tactical and operational view
With contributions from Climate and Green Growth (KGG, Ruud Cino) and Housing and Spatial Planning (Martin Peersmann), we will be the first to address the strategic-policy challenges. Subsequently, TNO, Deltares and MARIN approach the task tactically from the knowledge institutions. In the afternoon, we will look at the challenges and possible solutions in an operational way in a number of parallel sessions.
One of these parallel sessions is organised by Van Oord, TU Delft, Rijkswaterstaat and Witteveen+Bos and is about the open-source packages OpenCLSim and OpenTNSim. The goal: to build an active community of developers and users. A theme that will be discussed is the step towards a more agent-based approach, in which actors in the simulation can make their own choices based on available information. Would you like to think about this as a user, developer, researcher or application partner? Then you are very welcome.
In addition, Informatiehuis Marien and Periplus Group will provide parallel sessions in which they will discuss digital applications, data and solutions for the North Sea challenge from their own practice.
Pitches Rijkswaterstaat Machine Learning Challenge and tour of MARIN
In addition to this substantive program, you will hear the pitches of the proposals submitted for the RWS challenge – Machine Learning model wave parameters.
MARIN also provides a guided tour during lunch where you can take a closer look at the research facilities.
